A remarkable 300 year old Baroque period carved polychromed gilded wood guéridon with beautifully aged patina! circa 1725 Hand-crafted in Italy in the early 18th century, having a round top with elaborate shaped apron, supported by a richly decorated turned pedestal, rising on four splayed acanthus scroll feet. Provenance / Acquisition: Acquired from the highly reputable auction house Heritage Auctions, Dallas, Texas. 2024 Fine Decorative Arts Showcase Auction catalog #13215 lot #27215 Dimensions: (approx) 22" High, 13" Wide, 13" Deep As warm and attractive as it is useful, having the ideal size and proportions for a variety of different uses, including as a chair side table, sofa end table, bedside nightstand, plant stand, or stunning accent table. Wherever it's placed, this extraordinary table is sure to add sophisticated antique character, elegant rustic warmth, and old world European charm to any space! Condition Report: In overall very good condition, especially considering its age. Nicely aged warm heavily distressed chippy paint patina over the whole. Wear commensurate of age and use with scattered areas of chips, cracks, and nicks throughout; scattered areas of loss to gilt throughout; minor age related split observed to table top; scattered areas of overpainting observed, nothing that detracts from the display or functionality but only adds to the sophisticated antique character, elegant warmth, and rich historical depth that can only be acquired over very long periods of time
