About the Item

A large guéridon in Thuya burl, designed by Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, and produced by Alfred Porteneuve. Features a circular burl tabletop with tripod legs, each leg finishing in a scroll form. Alfred Porteneuve (1896-1949) was a French interior designer and furniture maker of the Art Deco period, having worked under the so-called godfather of Art Deco, Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann. Porteneuve later started his own furniture house, where he designed and created his own pieces with luxurious materials and expert craftsmanship. Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a French furniture designer and interior decorator and one of the most important and influential figures of the Art Deco movement, even considered by some the godfather of French Art Deco. His designs are characterized through elegance and purity of form, made with precious materials and expert craftsmanship, combining luxuriousness with modernity.
