About the Item

An Anglo-Chinese padouk metamorphic architect’s table, This apparently simple table is an infinitely versatile desk. The rectangular top has a moulded edge. It opens to create a large reading slope and encloses two candle arms. The front section has split legs so that the entire frieze pulls out to reveal a covered writing slope which can be used flat or tilted up on a rachet. Concealed under the slope is a drawer fitted with one large and several smaller compartments. Anglo-Chinese, circa late 18th/ Early 19th Century. Dimensions Closed: 36” wide by 22.85” deep by 30.5” high. Condition: Please see detail photos. Various expected signs of age and use include Scratches, rough wood seam edges, stains including ink, veneer lifting (Patch on the left side), worn edges and some warping to the left front leg fitting all mentioned for accuracy as the presentation is exceptionally fine.
