About the Item

A substantial 19th century French shop counter with original painted finish over beech and walnut construction. Much of the paint has been lost on the top surface, revealing the warm tones and patina of the wood planks contrasting with the pale blue-gray finish on the sides. The back of the fixture is not enclosed, leaving the unpainted interior open to quickly view or access the contents of the shelving that will make this antique fixture perfect for an artist or gardener. Raised panels on three sides of the case have charm and visual interest to float the piece in a room–like a kitchen island–or wherever one needs storage and workspace in one unit.
