About the Item
A high quality and most unique set of three French 19th century Napoleon III Period Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Tulipwood and Ormolu nesting tables. This wonderful set of Plum Pudding Mahogany, Tulipwood and Ormolu mounted tables are raised by circular Mahogany legs with carved bands. Each leg displays toupie shaded Ormolu sabots below block reserves accented with rosettes, and joined by Greek Key inlaid Tulipwood designed stretchers. The top frieze of the each table is inlaid in the same manner with Tulipwood bands flanked by block reserves adorned with richly chased rectangular shaped Ormolu rosettes. The Plum Pudding Mahogany tops are decorated by a central star inlays and bordered by a rectangular band with cut corners. Each of the tops are surrounded by a fanciful Ormolu edge guard with twisted ribbon and palmette designs.
