This is a fine and very rare antique Victorian burr walnut twin pedestal partners desk, Circa 1860 in date. It is made from fabulous burr walnut, the rectangular top with a fabulous inset gold tooled green leather writing surface. One side has an arrangement of three drawers in the frieze over a pair of pedestals each with three graduated drawers, the other side has a central frieze drawer with a cupboard in each pedestal, each opens to a central shelf. The desk is fitted with the original turned walnut handles and it stands on a plinth base raised on brass castors. The luxurious polished Mahogany desk is raised on four square tapered legs on brass casters. Beautiful proportions give it a regal appearance. This elaborate and ingenious construction is master crafted by the cabinet maker, Maple Company of London. A spring-loaded mechanism lifts the top to reveal a triptych beveled mirror and a spectacular display of a multitude of hallmarked Vermeil silver and cut crystal vanity suites by Charles and Richard Comyns. Every piece is fully hallmarked and engraved with the crown of a count and monogrammed. The desk has it’s original finish, pencil inlay and original brass hardware, like hinges and catches. This statement piece represents the modern concept of glamour and luxury. A fantastic antique Victorian mahogany and gilded twin pedestal dining table bearing the impressed mark of the renowned cabinet makers and retailers Wylie & Lochhead, and circa 1850 in date. The oval shaped table is made from solid mahogany and has four leaves which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion by a special winding mechanism. It is raised on a pair of beautifully carved and gilded pedestal bases with downswept legs terminating in scroll feet and the original brass and porcelain recessed castors. Bearing the inventory number 22308 and stamp of the maker: Wylie & Lochead 45 Buchanan Street Glasgow Whatever the function of this gorgeous table, it will make a profound impression on your dinner guests or clients and will receive the maximum amount of attention wherever it is placed.
