impressive! This 19th century Renaissance antique Pedestal / Column from France
Highly decorative and of impressive size this pedestal is hand carved from 1 piece of solid European oak.
Spirally carved by a master carver
is richly decorated with vines, grapes, leaves, birds
cherubs.
For example one cherub is being pulled up on the growing vines
1 cherub is using the vines as a swing.
It could also be linked to the hunting/ Black Forest style because of the grapes leaves
birds.
The base is carried by 4 beasts
the top decorated in Corinthian style.
