About the Item
Very special pedestal, made in the late 19. century, around 1880 in Austria.
This column has a particularly beautiful structure, the base is formed by lion paws around a round, bulbous slab that descends into an impressive, beautifully hand-carved twisted column. There is a round wooden plate at the top.
The column is made from solid beech wood that has been stained to a dark shade, which has then been hand polished with shellac.
Measurements approx: height 45,5 in - 115,6 cm, diameter 17,3 in - 44 cm
upper diameter 13,4 in - 34 cm
With this pillar, not only the object presented on it - such as a bust, a planter or a clock - is an eye-catcher but also the pedestal itself. A special Austrian piece in perfectly restored condition.
