About the Item
This French Art Deco bar cart, designed and produced circa 1935, is a rare and well-documented example of Streamline Moderne furniture from the interwar period. The design reflects the characteristic balance of geometric structure and streamlined form that defined French modern luxury design of the 1930s.
The tubular frame is executed in aluminum, a material regarded at the time as technologically advanced and prestigious, and subsequently brass-plated to achieve a warm metallic finish. This complex and costly process underscores the high production standards and technical sophistication associated with French Art Deco furniture.
Two shelves made of deep oxblood red glass provide a deliberate visual contrast to the brass-toned frame, contributing to the restrained elegance of the overall composition. The cart is mounted on fine casters, emphasizing mobility and practical use within an upscale domestic or hospitality context.
The lower section incorporates two integrated bottle holders designed to accommodate up to six bottles, demonstrating the functional clarity typical of Streamline Moderne design. Preserved in excellent condition, the bar cart exemplifies the principles of French Art Deco: functional design, material refinement, and a clear commitment to modernity and craftsmanship.
