About the Item

This is an antique Spanish side table crafted from solid pine. The tabletop is made from two broad planks with a thickness of approximately 2 cm (about 0.8"). The surface shows a deep natural sheen with a beautifully developed patina, the kind that only forms after many decades of use. The color is a light warm brown, characteristic of old Spanish pine that has mellowed and enriched over time. Beneath the top sits a well-shaped drawer with its original wooden pull. The drawer front displays soft hand-tooled texture and clearly visible growth rings. The scalloped apron below the drawer adds a subtle decorative touch typical of rural Spanish craftsmanship. The table stands on slightly splayed legs joined by stretchers, reflecting a practical and sturdy construction. The hand-cut joints underscore its authentic, traditional workmanship. This piece can be dated to the first half of the 19th century (circa 1820–1850). It belongs to the Spanish Rustic style (mueble rústico español), produced mainly in northern and central regions such as Castile, Aragón, and Navarra, where pine was the dominant cabinet wood. The design fits squarely within a period when Spanish rural furniture blended late-18th-century simplicity with early-19th-century understated decorative elements: functional and robust, yet enriched with small carved details that gave each piece a bit of character. A charming and authentic table with a wonderfully aged surface—ideal as a side table, bedside table, or warm decorative accent in a rustic or traditional interior.
