On offer is a French Louis XVI-style mahogany bedside table with two drawers opened with brass knobs. The piece’s fluted sides and tapered legs are a defining characteristic of the style. Delicate verdigris banding outlines the drawers as well as the side and back panels, adding a touch of luxury and refinement. Combining classical design elements with practical features, the shallow top drawer is divided into three distinct compartments intended for small personal items like pens, letters, or jewelry. Small, circular brass knobs and escutcheons adorn the drawer fronts. The raised frame around the top suggests that the piece may have originally included a piece of fitted marble to protect the wood. Instead, the dark spots and minor surface scratches are consistent with years of use and exposure to moisture or liquids.
