About the Item

This lovely late-19th-century Victorian stand is an elegant example of the ornate metalwork and refined materials popular during the period. Crafted in cast bronze with beautifully pierced and scrolled legs, the piece showcases the elaborate decorative vocabulary that defined the Victorian fascination with ornament and detail. A turned center post connects the tripod base to the upper ring, giving the stand an airy, architectural quality that feels both formal and graceful. At the top rests a polished white onyx plate—original to the piece—secured within an intricately cast bronze surround. The contrast between the warm patina of the bronze and the cool translucence of the onyx adds a luxurious visual balance, making the stand well suited for displaying a treasured vase, a piece of art glass, or a small planter. A decorative bronze and onyx finial midway down the shaft provides another charming sculptural touch. In nice antique condition with surface wear consistent with age and use, the stand remains sturdy and visually impressive.
