About the Item
This handmade side table beautifully pairs oak, stoneware and gold lustre with a contemporary design featuring gold circular details. The oak table top is made from locally sourced, repurposed felled urban trees that would have been burned. It has an asymmetrical oval shape that features characterful knots, grains and a smooth finish. The two legs are made from flecked stoneware with 24 karat gold lustre circular motifs on either side, inspired by the other-worldly, dizzying highs one feels when falling in lust. Created by Miyelle at her studio in Hackney, London, this unique piece is part of her “In Lust” collection. It was inspired by the feelings of fantasy and intense attraction associated with lustful desire.

Please note that this table may need to be shipped disassembled depending on the shipping location due to its fragile nature. The top has been carved to fit specifically with the naturally imperfect shape of each handmade ceramic leg. Instructions on how to assemble the piece will be provided if this is the case.

Miyelle
Miyelle creates ceramic sculptures that reflect the nuances of the human experience. Our work is an exploration of antithesis—the tensions between strength and fragility, solitude and connection, stability and change.
We find beauty in this duality. Our design language juxtaposes organic forms inspired by the body, water, and the solar system with clean, geometric lines. Smooth curves meet sharp edges, and exaggerated proportions are used to find harmony in contrast.
Miyelle was born from a desire to reconnect with the tactile in an increasingly digital world. With roots in graphic design, we apply principles of form, colour, and space to the ancient medium of clay, creating a dialogue between contemporary theory and elemental materials.
We believe clay is the perfect medium to express metamorphism. It is mouldable and volatile, transformed by hand, environment, and fire. In the same way, our lives are shaped by our choices and the forces around us. Ultimately, our pieces are an attempt to capture the beauty of these transformations, celebrating the complex and elegant shapes of our lives.
