About the Item

Table Mountain forms a backdrop for Cape Town and is one of SouthAfrica's most iconic natural landmarks. In 2020 a devastating fire raged over the nature reserve and destroyed a large portion of the fauna and fora. Walking along the footpaths months later, the evidence of the fire was stil present. The smell of smoke lingered, and proteas, wild grass and seeds were all covered in black soot. The aim of the side table pay homage to the wildlife that suffered in the fire, but to act as a reminder that after destruction, there is also rebirth and opportunity.

Contemporary Ceramic Side Tables by Manon Oller, 2022
By Guy Bareff
Located in London, GB
Ceramic side tables by Manon Oller. Material: White stoneware. Dimensions: H 48 x ø 59 cm. Year: 2022. Unique pieces handmade in France, bespoke size and material upon request. These side tables take their inspiration from Mediterranean architectural research: houses carved into rocks or built up with clay. Those graphic and angular forms are naturally shaped out from elements and fit with human living. Sol sculptures are thought like caves or refuges that can be used as side tables integrating storages but also as seatings. The rough material recalls in a significant way the flawlessness of the limestone rock.
