About the Item

A contemporary side table designed by Marrakech-based studio Mādda. This piece, titled "Sinīya," represents a modern reinterpretation of the traditional Moroccan tea ceremony. The form creates a dialogue with the vernacular "Sinīya"—the ceremonial brass serving tray typically presented on folding scissor legs. In this solid wood iteration, the design abstracts those elements into a permanent, architectural form. A solid octagonal tabletop is suspended between two vertical panels that follow the table's geometric angles, effectively "clasping" the delicate tray. Entirely handcrafted by master woodworkers in Morocco, the table features distinct tactile details. While the exterior planes are smooth, the inner surfaces of the legs feature a hand-carved, gouged texture. This adds depth and shadow to the piece, revealing the artisan's hand in the final finish. Constructed from solid Atlas Cedar (Cedrus atlantica), a wood native to the North African mountains. The timber is lightly finished to preserve its natural ruddy tones and characteristic grain.
