A unique sculptural table by Italian artist Davide Moretto, handcrafted from a solid section of oak root mounted on blackened iron legs. The work embodies Moretto’s signature philosophy — transforming reclaimed, timeworn materials into contemporary design objects that preserve their natural history.
The organic tabletop, carved from a radical section of ancient oak, retains its natural fissures, cavities, and undulating grain. Each imperfection has been carefully stabilized with hand-applied studs and nails (borchie e chiodi), creating a dialogue between repair and decoration, nature and human intervention.
This expressive, one-of-a-kind piece bridges brutalist texture and refined minimalism, recalling the material sensibility of Carlo Mollino, Franco Albini, and Mario Ceroli, yet fully asserting Moretto’s poetic independence.

Davide Moretto
Davide Moretto is an artist-designer whose work sits at the intersection of art, design, and craftsmanship. Based in Treviso, he creates one-of-a-kind pieces that combine historic materials and contemporary design sensibility. His practice involves the recovery and transformation of antique Murano glass fragments, reclaimed wood from Venetian briccole, and hand-forged iron, giving new life to elements that carry the memory of the lagoon.
