Add a touch of charming refined elegance and sophistication with this scarce English metamorphic ladies correspondence table. circa 1905
England, early 20th century, warm rich mahogany, petite scale, having a folding two board top that thanks to an ingenious mechanical system operates an automatic rise and fall platform stationary gallery fitted with letter slots, divided compartments, pen tray and pair of covered inkwells, as well as revealing an inset black leather writing surface, that lifts to access a deep recessed basin storage compartment.
This surprise writing table - sewing work stand is concealed when the tabletop is closed and returns to looks like a simple unassuming side table, with square top, broad apron, rising on slender straight tapered square legs, terminating in gently flared feet.
