We are delighted to offer for sale this very fine and Important, Italian circa 1860 hand carved corner table with giltwood body and Italian Carrara marble top
A very collectable and well made, decorative corner table, this is pure art furniture and looks expensive and important from every angle. The carving to the base is second to note, it is hand chiselled from top to bottom, the main body has herms / ships busts followed by feathers and flowers leading up to sea shells, it truly is a work of art and belongs in a museum
The frame is gold gilt fruitwood, it is the original gilding and is very thick and has a wonderful patination. The marble top is Italian Carrara marble and has a light thin vein of grey going through it
The condition is excellent for the period, there is nothing negative to note, it just has a good honest patina all over
