About the Item

A handsome and extremely high quality French 19th century Empire st. burl Walnut, ormolu and Jaune de Sienne marble side table. The oblong shaped table is raised by impressive richly chased ormolu paw feet below striking column like supports with superb foliate plinths and capitals, and adorned with exceptional pierced berried laurel, palmette, and rosette designed ormolu bands. Each support is connected by a bottom tier with elegant concave sides and centered by a finely detailed ormolu rosette framed within a richly chased tied berried laurel wreath and flanked by lovely pierced scrolled palmettes all set on a stunning butterfly veneered burl Walnut background showcasing the beautiful wood grain. The apron displays stunning extremely decorative richly chased winged maidens draped in wonderfully executed garments while standing on a ball and holding intricately detailed tied blooming flower swaging garlands. Above is the original Jaune de Sienne top with a fine mottled border. All original gilt throughout.
