About the Item

An exquisite French 19th century Louis XV st. Napoleon III period Ebony, ormolu, and Japanese black lacquer side table. The table is raised by three most elegant cabriole legs retaining their original casters below richly chased acanthus leaf fitted sabots and lovely chutes leading to striking pierced scrolled foliate foliate mounts in a superb satin and burnished finish. The legs are connected by a fine bottom shelf with a lovely scalloped shape and an ormolu gallery with delicate foliate details. The apron also displays a charming scalloped shape design with one drawer at the front framed within a finely mottled wrap around ormolu band and a lovely foliate ormolu keyhole escutcheon. The top displays a unique and most decorative bowl like shape with a stunning wonderfully executed Japanese black lacquer design of charming scenes with a house and trees all framed within an exceptional foliate lattice pattern and finely chased wrap around ormolu bands.
