About the Item
A sensational and high quality pair of French 19th century Neo-Greek st. patinated Bronze, Ormolu and marble tables/pedestals, attributed to Georges Emile Henri Servant. This stunning pair are raised by three patinated Bronze scrolled supports with bottom lion paws above a circular patinated Bronze mottled plinth and Ormolu plate. The legs are joined at the center by a triangular stretcher with designs of palmettes at the center and a gadroon shaped finial. The legs have stylized foliate scrolls flanking impressive Ormolu maiden busts with wreaths of wheat in their hair. The elongated busts lead to a decorative palmette design above and below the Ormolu central fut displaying a fluted pattern below the beaded trim. Above is a Ormolu urn with a patinated Bronze band adorned with berried foliate decorations all below the fluted stem. Above is the Breccia Bruna marble fitted within an elegant pierced Ormolu gallery with a bottom swaging draped design and a top baluster rim. Exquisite quality throughout, with wonderful and unique proportions.
Georges Emile Henri Servant was a renowned 19th-century Parisian bronzier celebrated for his finely cast clocks, candelabra, and decorative objects in the Neo-Egyptian and Neo-Greek styles. Exhibiting at the Paris Expositions of 1855 and 1867, he earned a Médaille d’Or and became one of the foremost bronze casters of his era.
