About the Item

Hans Günther Reinstein Round Table, Hanover Design circa 1911, Executed by Österreichische Pressstoff-Möbelgesellschaft, Vienna A rare and historically significant round table designed by Hans Günther Reinstein around 1911 during his Hanover period, and executed by the Österreichische Pressstoff-Möbelgesellschaft in Vienna. This piece reflects the progressive design ethos of the early 20th century, blending functional innovation with the emerging aesthetics of the Vienna Secession and German Werkbund movements. Constructed from bent beechwood and corrugated cardboard, both painted white, the table exemplifies early experiments with lightweight, industrial materials—hallmarks of modernist thinking. The tabletop and structure show traces of age and patina, while the four distinctive round black feet provide a striking visual contrast. Some surfaces have been partially painted over in keeping with historical restoration techniques. Materials: Beechwood, white painted Corrugated cardboard, white painted Partly painted over during restoration Four round black feet Condition: Professionally restored Signs of age and use consistent with the piece’s early 20th-century origin Structural integrity maintained while preserving surface character Dimensions: Height: 73 cm (28.7 in) Width: 75 cm (29.5 in) Depth: 48.5 cm (19.1 in) Design: Hans Günther Reinstein, Hanover, circa 1911 Execution: Österreichische Pressstoff-Möbelgesellschaft, Vienna This table is a rare and refined artifact of early European modernism—suited for collectors, curators, and connoisseurs of Secessionist and Werkbund design.
