About the Item
A stunning and most decorative Italian 19th century Baroque st. Carrara, Sienna, Rosso Antico and Black Belgian marble side table. This intricately detailed carved marble table is raised on a triangular stepped base below three standing winged maidens decorated with large and richly carved acanthus leaves, oval ringed belts, palmette armor and beaded necklaces. Each maiden wears a delicate tiara while flanked by impressive marble volutes to each side centered by hanging fruits. The central support displays a double mottled band before the sensationally carved and etched marble top. The top is centered by a wonderful Rosso Antico marble medallion set within an outer Sienna marble band accented with an inlaid Black Belgian marble beaded design. The inlaid Sienna marble extends outward via three inlaid segments accented with Black Belgian marble inlays and framing the etched Carrara marble panels displaying exceptionally carved scrolled Rinceaux and foliate designs. The entirety of the top is framed by an outer Rosso Antico marble border before the fluted and acanthus leaf patterned edge.
