About the Item

A striking Italian ebonized table from the 19th century with an inset top of rust-colored "Scagliola", a kind of faux-marble that has incredible depth and translucency between the swirls of pigment. The table surface draws the viewer in, outlined by thick frame trimmed in a barley-twist motif that runs the entire perimeter. Proportionately muscular barley twist legs add to the overall sense of dynamic movement created by such sophisticated mastery of the materials. A phenomenal stretcher connects them, further decorated with a beautiful urn finial placed where the supports intersect. The ebony finish gleams after a fresh wax and polishing, and will for years to come. Brass casters can be found under each of the four legs for your convenience.
