Finally, the wait is over - a wooden low table filled with wabi-sabi charm! This wooden low table, made between the end of the Edo period and the Meiji period in Japan, is the very embodiment of wabi-sabi. This form of table, known as a bun-desu, is a traditional Japanese table used for writing, and is a particularly valuable item that gives a sense of Japanese history and culture. Because the writing desk was often used on a daily basis, many traces remain on its top. Soot and oily smoke have darkened the entire piece, giving it a moist sheen after years of use. This beautiful sheen is a sign of time, something you will never see on new furniture. The texture of the wood and its deep hue bring a sense of calmness and serenity to the space, giving it a truly “wabi-sabi” feel. There are minor scratches and scuffs on the tabletop, evidence of its use as a work surface, but that is exactly what makes this table so attractive. The natural marks created by repeated casual work give it character. In addition, there was a slight crack in the reinforcement between the legs on the right side of the front, but it has been repaired by gluing it back together, so it remains solid and stable. The tabletop is relatively level and has no problems for daily use. The size is 90 cm wide, 33 cm deep, and 23.7 cm high, which is just right. It harmonizes well with contemporary interiors and is especially suitable for Japanese style and natural spaces. Elegant and quietly beautiful, this low table will be an eye-catcher in your interior.
