Louis XV Style Giltwood and Rouge Marble Lamp Table
A finely detailed Louis XV-style giltwood occasional table, featuring a circular inset top of richly coloured rouge marble with attractive natural veining in shades of rose and white. The marble is framed by a moulded giltwood border with carved rope-twist detail, lending a subtle sense of movement to the design.
The apron is beautifully carved with scrolling acanthus foliage and stylised floral motifs, reflecting the elegance and exuberance of the Rococo style. The four legs are turned and fluted, tapering gracefully to the feet and joined by an arched X-form stretcher centred with a small turned finial, providing both strength and decorative balance.
The frame retains its original hand-applied gilding, now gently mellowed with age to a soft, warm tone that enhances the sculptural quality of the carving.
