Attributed to Fontana Arte, this refined Italian side table from the mid-20th century exemplifies the sculptural elegance and material experimentation that define the brand’s most iconic production.
The table features a striking conical base carved from solid black marble, naturally aged and bearing subtle surface fissures consistent with time. These hairline cracks have long since stabilized and do not affect the table’s structural integrity, functionality, or longevity, instead contributing to its authentic patina and sculptural character.
Resting above is the unmistakable Fontana Arte light blue glass top, thick and softly contoured, with polished edges that enhance its luminous, almost liquid presence. The glass is supported by a brass pivot pin that inserts directly into the marble cone, housing an internal bearing mechanism that allows the top to rotate smoothly through a full 360 degrees — a sophisticated technical detail that elevates both function and design.
