A rare and beautifully crafted mid-century modern low table designed by Franz Seifert for Kunst-Möbel, Germany, circa 1950s. This piece exemplifies the refined elegance of Austrian post-war design, merging modernist form with traditional artisan detailing.
Crafted in solid walnut, the rectangular tabletop features exquisite hand-cut floral marquetry inlays in contrasting hardwoods, arranged symmetrically in the corners to frame the rich grain of the central panel. The inlay work is finely executed, showcasing the precision and artistry for which Kunst-Möbel was known.
One of the table’s most functional and unique attributes is its folding leg mechanism, allowing for easy transport or storage. When deployed, the legs lock securely, offering a sturdy and stable base. A cross-stretcher adds structural support and an architectural touch to the silhouette.
