Founded in NYC by Erik Johnson and Jen Johnson-Kuhn, design and fabrication company Argosy Designs specializes in custom architectural and ornamental metalwork. Argosy collaborates with a range of clients in interior and architectural design to execute projects for residential and commercial spaces, including staircases, windows, doors, sculpture, hardware, lighting, and furniture. Notable clients include Bergdorf Goodman, Roman and Williams and Interiors, Ian Schrager Company, Herzog de Meuron, Leo Villareal Studio, and Fawn Galli Interior Design. In addition to custom work, Argosy also produces an eponymous line of handcrafted furniture, lighting, and unique objects, called Argosy Product Division (APD). APD offers an array of industrially modern, exquisitely made products, created by skilled artisans with attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship. “Collection I” is defined by the subtle and intricate balance of physical presence and emotional influence, employing strong materials, intentional lines, and deliberate angles. Good design evokes emotions and feelings. Great design orchestrates them, and APD’s “Collection I” uniquely orchestrates the temperature of a room. The mood is classic, the execution modern. However, robust works of such precision also require a touch of delicacy and playfulness to feel alive and exhilarating. APD’s intention to establish a more balanced and contemporary flavor shuns the mundane and breathes new life into tradition.
