17th Century Walnut Spanish Side Table / End Table
Located in Carmine, TX
Side table hand-made in Spain in the early 1700s using walnut. This little table is a stunner, both because of its proportions as well as the wood. OMG, the look and feel of old old old walnut that has survived centuries, there is nothing like it. I have to give it to the Spanish, nobody built tables like they did: they are gorgeous, and sturdy, and practical, and I just love them. Going back to this little guy. The top is made of one single, thick board pegged to the legs and apron. The apron is decorated on all sides by hand-made raised carvings and molding showing geometrical shapes. On the front we find a single inset drawer, also decorated like the rest of the apron. The legs are hand-turned and connected with a scalloped box...

17th Century English Oak Joint Stool / Side Table
Located in Carmine, TX
Joint stool made in England in the late 1600s using oak. This is a beautiful, and old, small stool that shows great proportions and can still be used on a daily basis. The top consists of a single board with ogee edge, that has been repaired with an inset at some time in the past. The apron of the stool is decorated by a simple line carving and the top sits on four turned legs ending with block feet. The box stretcher connecting the legs is very simple and lacks decoration, however, some wear is present where feet have rested over the many years of use. The stool has a beautiful dark color, accentuated by small nicks and scratches that provide it with depth and character. Little english joint stools are fantastic, they were made to last and are just cute to look at, providing households with both a functional as well as pretty accent piece. Plus, if you have an old cat...
