About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely, highly decorative antique 19th century tulipwood, burr walnut ebonised and marquetry inlaid centre table with gold gilt bronze rams heads, feet and dogs bust decorations after Auguste Maximilien Delafontaine Wow… What a table! Its rare that something this fine and delicate comes through my hands but when it does, what a pleasure! It is of course quintessentially French, the timber is a mixture of ebony, tulipwood and burr walnut with multiple gilt bronze finials and chains. This piece just screams French Louis style and charm. The table has an early water glass top which has a relatively nicely cut edge for the period, this has protected the top It is made after Auguste Maximilien Delafontaine who is of course best known for his extravagant candlesticks. The decorative chain work is very much in his taste. The table is very decorative and looks expensive and important in any setting, we have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, it will have normal age and use related patina marks here and there Dimensions: Height 77cm Width 81.5cm Depth 54.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
