This elegant pedestal side table was created for use at the Hôtel Ritz Paris, which opened in 1898 and quickly established itself as one of the most celebrated luxury hotels of the modern era. Executed in gilt metal, the table features a circular top supported by a finely turned central column and a stepped circular base. Its restrained classical proportions reflect the refined decorative language that defined the Ritz’s interiors throughout the late 19th and 20th centuries.
The table was acquired from a sale of deaccessioned furnishings from the hotel prior to its recent renovations.
