About the Item

This low table is made using reclaimed Japanese zelkova wood. It's crafted from a single piece of zelkova wood that has quietly aged over the years. It was likely originally intended for use as a workbench, but was left unused for the most part. While it developed a rich texture, it shows surprisingly few signs of wear, making it exceptionally well-maintained for antique wood. Zelkova is one of Japan's finest woods, and has long been used for shrine and temple architecture and luxury furniture. Its exceptional hardness and rich texture are its hallmarks. The tabletop is a perfect example of this. At approximately 8.3 cm thick, it exudes a sense of sheer solidity, while the swaying grain characteristic of zelkova permeates its surface, creating a rich, abstract landscape. However, its appearance is far from harsh; rather, it displays a natural, graceful undulation. With virtually no traces of tool use or deep scratches, it exudes a refined antique finish that complements contemporary interiors. One of its charms is that either side can be used, allowing you to enjoy different looks by flipping it over. The table legs are also made from old zelkova wood, with beautiful, neat grain. They have the presence to support the heavy tabletop, while also possessing the simplicity of timber, and the tabletop and legs complement each other's unique characteristics.
