About the Item
Striking round coffee table in a bold Brutalist / Spanish Revival style, made in Europe around the 1970s. The sculptural base is executed in hand-forged, blackened iron, formed by six broad, curved legs that flare gracefully to the floor and are joined at the centre by a decorative ring with riveted details. The result is a strong, architectural silhouette with a beautiful sense of movement and balance.
The thick circular top (approx. 4 cm / 1.6 in) has a wooden core that is encapsulated in cast polyester with a rich, bronzed metallic finish. The upper surface is deeply engraved with a geometric sunburst pattern radiating from the centre, giving the table an almost relief-like, sculptural quality. The combination of the dark, forged iron base and the warm bronze-toned top creates a powerful visual contrast and a highly decorative presence.
While the piece is unsigned, the quality of the forging and the complexity of the engraved pattern clearly point to skilled artisan production rather than mass manufacture. It sits comfortably within the vocabulary of European Brutalist and Spanish Revival design of the period, with its emphasis on strong materials, texture and expressive, almost architectural forms.
