This is an old low table made in Japan. It was made between the Meiji and Taisho periods (1860s-1920s) and is a piece of traditional craftsmanship and aesthetics. The material used is luxurious zelkova wood, and its powerful yet delicate grain is beautifully expressed in the top and legs. The rich expression and smooth texture unique to zelkova will deepen as it is used more and more. The vitality of the natural material and its time-worn texture are in perfect harmony. The gentle warping of the legs and the beveled edges show the skill and aesthetics of Japanese craftsmen in every detail. Particularly eye-catching is the openwork design on the sides. The intricate carvings interwoven in a lattice pattern boast a level of perfection that can truly be described as craft-like.
