About the Item

Le Corbusier 10 Table en Tube Basse For Cassina Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret exhibited the first version of this historic design table in 1929 at the Salon d’Automne in Paris as part of the “l’Equipement Intérieur d’une Habitation” stand. In its original dimensions, it was introduced as a desk, but Charlotte Perriand revisited it and later updated it with Cassina in new interpretations more in keeping with the needs of modern lifestyles. The minimalist design of the support structure demonstrates its uniqueness in the chrome plating of the tubular steel uprights and in the colored lacquer on the laminated crosspieces. The series also includes square or rectangular side tables with top in glass, textured or tinted thermoformed glass and and painted in numerous colors from the Le Corbusier palette, as well as the outdoor version for exterior use. LEGS Tubular steel with polished chrome finish. TOP Clear glass or textured or cast glass PAINT Colors from the Le Corbusier palette. Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret exhibited the first version of this table in 1929 at the Salon d’Automne [Autumn Salon] in Paris as part of the “Équipement Intérieur d’une Habitation” [Interior Home Furnishings] stand. The table, in its original size, which was originally presented as a writing desk, was revisited by Perriand in 1984, and relaunched by Cassina one year later, offering new features to keep pace with contemporary needs. The minimalist design of the frame is revealed in the uniqueness of the chrome finish on the tubular steel uprights and the coloured lacquer finish on the crosspieces. The series includes tables and low tables, in square and rectangular formats, with top in clear, textured or tinted thermoformed glass and painted trim in the various shades of the Le Corbusier colour palette. Their collaboration lasted through to 1937 and was extremely fruitful, especially in the field of furniture design. The partnership was highly significant, both in terms of the cultural weight of their achievements and their professional successes. It was together with Charlotte Perriand that the pair tackled the innovative project for “l’équipement d'intérieur de l’habitation”. The resulting designs were of great intellectual value and considerable commercial success. Thanks to Cassina’s ongoing production, there is continued interest in the conceptual contents of the work and the level of quality attained.Due to these characteristics, each item in the collection is eagerly awaited.
