About the Item

A table - pure extravagance. The design for this table comes from Adolf Loos and the execution was carried out by Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, Austria. This design object is pure Art Nouveau, carried out in the 1960s. The table top is of solid mahogany and rounded at the edges, an exceptional and high quality structure. This continues on the substructure - the beech wood was bent - into rings and these are framed on each side by two curved wooden legs. The bending of wood has been the Thonet brothers' specialty since the 1830s, initially with coffee house furniture. Their furniture constructions are very light and delicate, but very stable, suitable for every day use. This made the Thonet brothers the most successful furniture manufacturers of the industrial age. Measurements approx.: height 21,65 in – 55 cm, width 47,05 in – 119,5 cm, depth 25,59 in – 65 cm. The original Thonet plaque is on the underside of the table top. A table from one of Austria's most traditional companies, world-famous for their collaboration with important designers to create outstanding furniture - also in this case. A true design gem that can be beautifully showcased in any interior. Outstanding original condition.
