About the Item
Embellish a coffee table or ottoman with this elegant mid-century English serving tray. Crafted in England circa 1960, the oval tray is constructed of finely figured burl walnut and features a raised, gently scalloped gallery edge that follows the graceful oval form. The surface is beautifully decorated with a central marquetry and inlaid medallion depicting a classical shell motif, executed in contrasting woods and framed within a delicate oval reserve.
The tray is fitted with two original brass handles at each end, showcasing softly sculpted forms and a warm, naturally aged patina that complements the rich walnut surface. The underside is finished with a green felt lining, offering protection and stability during use. The piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and displays a rich, warm walnut patina with light surface wear consistent with mid-20th-century craftsmanship.
Versatile and decorative, this refined tray may be used for serving, as a coffee table accent, or as an elegant display piece atop a console or bar.
