About the Item
A fine early 20th-century satinwood dressing table, distinguished by its warm tone and beautifully figured veneers throughout. The shaped top is surmounted by an elegant arrangement of three adjustable mirrors, each framed in satinwood with gently arched crests and supported on turned uprights, allowing the mirrors to be angled to suit the user.
The base is fitted with banks of drawers to either side and a central knee-hole drawer, all displaying striking chevron-matched satinwood veneers and fitted with original metal handles, likely brass, which complement the colour and character of the wood. The table stands on turned legs united by a shaped stretcher base and finished with original castors.
A finely inlaid frieze beneath the mirrors, decorated with scrolling foliate motifs, adds a refined decorative note and highlights the quality of the cabinetmaking.
