About the Item

This exceptional hand-embroidered textile is inspired by the rich tradition of Ottoman embroidery from the 16th to 19th centuries, reimagined for the present. Created as a unique centerpiece, it can be displayed as wall art or used as a striking decorative accent in the home. The piece is entirely handmade using natural materials and traditional techniques. Silk threads, dyed exclusively with natural dyes, are applied in dense, intricate stitches to a hand-drawn design on fine cotton canvas. The silk embroidery fully covers the ground, leaving no cotton visible, which gives the work its richness and depth. Each embroidery is created start to finish by a single artisan, ensuring consistency and care in execution. On average, producing one square meter of embroidery requires up to one year of work. This slow and meticulous process celebrates centuries of craftsmanship and the artistry of women who have historically shaped textile traditions. Canvas Mounting (Upon Request): For clients who wish to display their textile as wall art, we offer the option of carefully stitching the embroidery onto a linen canvas backing. This process stabilizes the textile and prepares it for professional framing. The mounting service will be done at no additional cost. The final framing can then be arranged by the buyer with a local framer, according to their preferred style and materials. This option is available upon request and is recommended for long-term preservation and display.
