About the artist:
Daniel Fauville was very young when he showed an interest in painting. He quickly became a teacher in visual arts at a college of higher education in Brussels. His first personal exhibition, in Charleroi in 1974, already demonstrated a reflection on man’s place and the life cycle. A painter and sculptor in turn, Daniel Fauville has created a unique timeless and universal style, without ever falling into artistic regionalism. His work is characterized by strokes pared down to the essential and the use of shapes that are both familiar and imaginary. In the choice of themes that punctuate his work, Daniel Fauville remains faithful to his dreams and his childhood fascinations. Trams, cars, boats, planes and motorbikes appear in urban landscapes or are portrayed as close-ups. Other prize objects include: factories, buildings and fortified castles, which he anchors in local reality.
This artist represented Belgium in 1989 at the 20th Sao Paul Biennial (Brazil), with Alechinsky, Gabriel Belgeonne and Marc Trivier, and at the first Dakar Biennale. His works are exhibited worldwide and are present in private and public collections, both in Belgium and abroad.
