About the Item

Inspired by French savonnerie rug technique and mid-century Moroccan designs, Tapestry Gallery has re-imagined this one-of-a-kind piece using pure artisanal techniques. From concept to execution to completion-all details were accounted for. This hand-knotted pashmina wool pile carpet was made in Nepal using the ancient art of Tibetan knotting. This one-of-a-kind hand-knotted vegetable rug - a true work of art- is representative of a strong female figure. With a rich Cerulean background juxtaposed to foreground visage of vibrant pink, green, and goldenrod- this is a statement piece that elevates the aesthetic value of any room. It is a statement of value, taste and one could say whimsy- From a grand forayer welcoming one's guests to displaying in a home reminiscent of the Stahl House overlooking the majesty of the LA skyline, this textile art carpet evokes strength, beauty and true midcentury design. A welcome addition for an established collector and a solid investment both in artistic and financial returns. This one-of-a-kind hand-knotted rug involved a more complex and longer production process. It took our designer a few weeks to search and re-imagine the cartoon design and takes approx. 18 weeks for our weavers to complete this piece of art rug. This particular rug will have finer details, and will be made using the finest quality of wool - pashmina - for softness on the feet. It will also have thousands of knots individually tied to a foundation, and a distinct back and front. After it is completed and in the "raw" stage, our skilled weavers will have to get it "shaved" for its final detailed look. This rug is made to order with a unique and re-imagined design for your floor space. Measures: 12 x 9'. Time from order to delivery: 18-19 weeks.
