About the Item
Erik Pape (born 1942, Delft, The Netherlands) is known as a modern Delft master. His work can be seen at prestigious museums including the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Van Abbemuseum and Municipal Museum of The Hague.
This stunning raw work, framed in plexiglass, is untitled and dated 1970, signed on the back by the artist. It was acquired from the estate of a well-known Belgian collector couple.
Echoing the forms and lines of Cy Twombly, here the abstract linear motifs achieve a depth in contrast with the wax crayon markings.
