About the Item

Nicolas Makelberge (b.1976) is a Swedish artist renowned for his evocative artworks, reminiscent to the forces at play in the sky and the sea - his constant sources of inspiration. His works are currently on display at the Audo House in Copenhagen, as well as at Minotti Showrooms in London and Stockholm. The trajectory of Nicolas' artistic path was shaped by attending art school at an early age in Lund, Sweden (1996) as well as earning higher degrees in design in Rhode Island in the US (2005) and Porto, Portugal (2012). The distinctiveness of his approach has earned him international recognition, with his art being featured in publications including ELLE Decor, Forbes and Harpers Bazaar as well as collaborations with high-end design companies around the world. The "THREE LAYERS" series is an elegant expression of the pursuit of maximal beauty through minimal composition. Drawing inspiration from the sky and the sea, this work distills natural drama into a concentrated, meditative study of color and presence. In this series, Makelberge begins with aged paper, allowing its weathered texture and subtle patina to establish a deep, historical ground. Upon this foundation, three distinct, highly-pigmented shades of cadmium red are applied in successive, overlapping layers. The piece is custom framed in a finely crafted waxed Oak frame and protected by museum-grade acrylic glass, securing the work's delicate complexity for permanence. Dimensions: 20.87 in x 15.75 in (53 x 40 cm). Carefully crated and shipped worldwide with FedEx or UPS
