About the Item
Treasure collection mirror in coral topaz is a unique art glass and aluminum mirror by the British designer and artist Amy Cushing.
The Treasure collection is a series of unique contemporary mirrors. Each piece is a sumptuous union of richly hued anodized aluminum, Industrial tinted mirror juxtaposed with highly colored, luxuriously detailed signature handmade art glass panels created by Amy Cushing. The resulting combination is breathtakingly elegant. The aluminum frame is milled down in areas to allow the glass elements to be set within the metal, echoing the mounting used for gems found within rings and jewelry. This results in seamless lines within the metal, which frames the elements held within.
Since graduating from Chelsea College of Art
Design in 1992, Amy Cushing has become one of London’s most creative designers, carving a unique niche for herself with her unparalleled understanding of fused glass combined with her intuitive sense of color.
Having trained in Public Art, large-scale drawing, painting and all 3-D disciplines, specializing in ceramics and glass, Cushing draws on this expansive knowledge to envisage her large scale installations and artworks.
The beauty of her glass is in the detail and her meticulous self-informed working knowledge. A vast portfolio of techniques informed by many years experimenting with kilns and recording the results, detailing how to achieve and repeat the desired effects and colors which are used to compose each piece.
Cushing creates bespoke installations and compositions for interior and exterior spaces and is regularly selected to represent British Design both in the UK and overseas.
