About the Item
An exquisite 18th century Italian gilded and painted wooden wall plaque. This large size antique wall decoration from Italy features a central cartouche, surrounded by a variety of motifs: reminiscent of the Baroque period, volutes and scrolls flank the sides of this wall ornament. The crest is decorated with a giltwood foliage carving echoing the ornaments in the lower section. Symmetrically placed, two festoons seem to be passing through a hole, ending their course in the scrolled sides. The main colors of this Italian piece is made of beige, with some brown hints and of course gilded accents in the motifs. This 18th century Italian wall plaque, just shy of 5.5 feet in length, will be a magnificent focal point for a wall.
