About the Item
18th century Italian hand-carved and gilded tabernacle door adorned with baroque pearls. This door once belonged on a tabernacle which served the eucharist in a church. It has a heavenly depiction of hand-carved angels with clouds and a sunburst above a sacrificial lamb which represents Christ.
The piece was recently preserved and adorned with the baroque pearls by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture and period shows that the Italian church tablet is originally 18th century.
The baroque pearls emulate the pearlescent color of the clouds. They are applied to transform the piece into an organic, historical, and spiritual work of art.
*Can be displayed with a stand or hung on a wall.
