About the Item

From an old western Wyoming estate and dated 1941. Four unique Old West Native American panel works of art, circa 1941. This is a rare and beautiful mid century set of four (4) hand incised hard wood panels depicting a unique screen portraying Native First Americans on horses moving through pine forests and rock out crops - all superbly hand incised circa 1941. Each panel is incised with a continuous and different portion of an old western scene- and part of the entire set of panels forming an attractive continuous wall screen. At the bottom right hand corner of the last right panel is an incised date and logo 1-1941 below a deer or elk rack of horns . Dimensions: Each panel is 43.5 inches high and 24 inches wide, total width for all four panels is 96 inches . We can recommend plastic clips to mount this unique set on your favorite wall. Handmade, hand stained and hand burned using pyrographic techniques Provenance: James Reynolds Estate of Cody, Wyoming and then to an old New England collection. History of the Pyrography: py·rog·ra·phy, a noun, is the art or technique of decorating wood or leather by burning a design on the surface with a heated metallic point. Pyrography was particular popular in America and Europe during the last quarter of the 19th century and first quarter of the 20th century. We will be offering more important high quality Folk Art and pyrography works of art in the near future. We have been collecting and dealing in authentic American Folk Art and pyrography works of art for more than thirty years. Our president has authored informative articles on collecting pyrography and has amassed what is believed to be internationally the largest and finest collection of Pyrographic Folk Art which is now being de-accessioned.
