Dated 1887 - W8097
This is a framed signed etching by Arthur Wesly Dow dated 1887, "Poplars on the Even River" in good condition. It is mounted on paper. There is no foxing but a slight discoloration is evident due to age (see photos).
Arthur Wesley Dow (April 6, 1857 – December 13, 1922) was an American painter, printmaker, photographer and an arts educator. He studied under Ernest Fenellosa. Fenellosa introduced Dow to ukiyo‑e, the woodblock prints of Japan, which greatly influenced his later works.
Note: The size listed is the size of the work itself. The dimensions of the frame are 11.5 inches x 13.5 inches.
