Decorative Native American War Shirt Beadwork on Felt and Leather

About the Item

This is in the style of a Native American warrior's ceremonial shirt. Although the exact creator is not know, it was skillfully created by a Native American Indian artist of the Tigua Tribe, Texas. Handcrafted with real elk or deer skin leather with bands of exquisite colorful beadwork on red felt. Complimenting the beadwork are numerous bullet casings, each with a red bead and a horsehair tassel. There are also shining brass roundels, and deer or elk teeth on beaded necklaces. Down the center is a traditional breast plate made from handcrafted long bone tubes called hair pipes and copper beads. There is also an intriguing "medicine pouch" hanging from the neck in the upper center. Horse hair and leather fringe represent the flowing wind that helps move the warrior swiftly and gives this shirt an airy, light effect. Recently crafted as a purely decorative wall hanging (not to be worn), it has all the features of an authentic Native American war shirt, at a fraction of the cost. Length approximately 67 inches; height 36 inches and with fringe 52 inches. If shipped, the curtain rod that hangs it for the photo is not included. We will include it if you pick it up. Rough cut leather gives this shirt its warm look and feel of rich quality. Genuine horse hair fringe adds to the rustic look of this leather shirt. This is a high quality warshirt that looks fantastic. This shirt also includes a bone hair pipe breast plate and medicine wheels with the four directions of earth. Traditionally, each shirt would be unique to the wearer and would be decorated accordingly. Horse hair or fringe is almost always included, representing the wind to help move the warrior swiftly.
